做好完形填空题学生必须了解完形填空短文中的所缺要点:是语法上的、句法上的,还是词法上的,是时态、人称与数、句型、还是词组搭配?如:

第一,快速通读全文,了解文章主旨:Maria — small mountain village — to school — didn’t go to high school — work — USA — far away — didn’t know English — study English very hard — speak English very well — studying typing — have a good future in the 10 country.
把握文章语境,顺藤摸瓜。读后作出分析:女孩,家境贫寒(穷),美国,远离故土,语言不通,发奋学习,打字,憧憬未来。

She 1 to school — 2 she didn’t go to high school.分析:前句肯定,后句否定,关联词含转折之意,故空题2应选A. But。不选However的原因是However要用逗号隔开。When she 4 in the USA with her family,分析:举家赴美,到达某地的词组有got to,reached,arrived at / in,moved to+地点,故空题4选arrived。
先做最有把握、最熟悉的短语、惯用法、动词形式和其他语言结构的题目,在没有弄懂的情况下切不可自行断意。
第三,抓住文章的内在逻辑,调动生活经验,凭借句型结构、习惯用语、语法常识进行推断猜想。
She missed her friends in her hometown far away 5 the big city.因为远离,所以思念。根据词组far away from 可以找到答案。空5为from。
and now she is studying typing, she wants 9 a typist(打字员),从词组搭配want to do和want to be可以分析:想当/成为打字员是一种职业,故应用want to be a typist;而想打字应该写为want to type。想在他乡打拼憧憬自己的美好未来,他乡对于远离故乡的人就是一个新的世界。She hopes she will have a good future in the 10 country. 故空10可以推断为new。
第四,集中精力,突破难点。反复琢磨,照顾整体,联系上下文,排除明显错误,缩小选择范围,得出最佳答案。
At first she didn’t know English 6 . She began to study English very hard,初赴美国,语言不通,刻苦学习。难点是didn’t know English 6 . 推断出一点也不懂英语。排除A,B,C答案。(A. a bit,修饰形容词和副词,放在形容词、副词之前,不符合题意。B. a little,修饰形容词、副词和不可数名词,也可以修饰动词,放在动词词组之后和句末,not ...a little 含义为不是一点,而是很多,也不符合题意。C. a lot,与答案很接近,易于混淆,如果选用,At first she didn’t know English a lot. 则含有肯定之意,而短文含义倾向否定,指“根本不懂英语,一点也不懂英语”,则C又排除)答案选D. at all, didn’t know English at all,含义符合题意。
After a long time of hard work Maria 7 able to speak English very well. She didn’t stop 8 English at night, 通过艰苦努力,英语能够讲得好。应用过去时态,因而答案只能在B. could与C. was之中选择。而could之后应接动词原形,所以答案选C,was able to speak English very well.符合题意。
第八空指继续不停地在夜晚学英语(做同一件事)。只要区别stop to do (停下来做别的事)与 stop doing (停止正在做的那一件事),答案D. studying便确定无疑。
第五,选答完毕,再读全文,核实语言是否流畅、脉络是否贯通、看人称与数是否一致、动词时态是否准确、短语搭配是否得当、疑难之处是否清晰、情节发展是否合理等项目。

总之,做好完形填空题之前要有大量的储存:储存词汇、储存语法、储存句型、储存阅读方法、储存解题技巧。这样,在解题之中,才能对文章把握得稳,分析得准,理解得深。
