Directions:
Inthis test you will have an opportunity to demonstrate your ability to understand and use
spoken English. The test is divided into three parts.
Part 1 Read a short passage aloud and answer questions.
Part 2 Speak on a topic.
Part 3 Complete a role-play task with the examiner as your conversation partner.
Part 1 Read aloud the part between the stars and then answer the questions the examiner asks
you.
* Today, I' d like to give you a brief introduction to using email. The term email
stands for electronic mail. That is, it's mail sent by computer. People who use email
frequently call regular mail sent by the post office "snail mail". Sending and receiving email
is extremely fast and simple. It's probably tess expensive than sending "snail mail",
depending of course on how much mail you send.
Ok, so how do you send email? First, go to the main menu on your computer and choose
the email option listed there. You'll need to indicate that you want to send email. Then, you
fill in the recipient's email address in the "to" box. Next, write the topic of your email in the
"subject" box.
After that, simply type your message in the large blank space. Finally, when you finish
the message, choose the "send" option, and the email will be sent. It takes only minutes, in
most cases, for email to reach its destination (收件人地址). And that's all there is to the
process -- the fastest, the cheapest, and perhaps the most convenient way of communicating
with someone down tile street, or halfway around the world.
Part 2 Speak on the following topic for about 2 minutes.
What's your hobby? Suppose you had free time and more than enough money, how,
where and with whom would you spend your weekend? Why?
Part 3 Complete a role-play task with your teacher. Your conversation should last 3-- 4 minutes.
A meets B, another first year English major of the Foreign Languages Department on
the campus.
You are A. You start the conversation with B. The following is the procedure you should
follow.
● Exchange greetings with B. B tells A that there is a Japanese language course being
held and asks for his/her opinion.
● Give your opinion on studying Japanese; Tell B that as a first year student it's
better to concentrate on English first.
● Express disapproval when B insists on studying two foreign languages at the same
time.
● Offer to help B make a suitable study plan.
